Yadda, Yadda
After months of not having a laptop (thank you, Diggy, for chewing through my power cord), I am back. Although I don't have anything too exciting to say, I suppose a few updates are in order. First off, Will and I recently moved to a new place. We are finally living the Baltimore life, rowhome-style. Rowhomes were foreign to me before I moved to Baltimore. They are as the name suggests...homes..in a row. Ours is adorable and just the right size. Will has his own study nook (where he lives), and I FINALLY have a kitchen I can move in. For this, I am grateful. And I never thought I would say this, but I am really looking forward to cooler weather. This Baltimore humidity is so passe - I'm ready to wear my fall sweaters and make butternut squash soup :).
Earlier this month, I headed to NYC with girls from my salon for hair classes with Unite (the company my salon works with). The education coincided with Fashion Week and exhibited styles straight from the runway. It was inspiring and rekindled my love for runway fashion. I hope that Unite will open doors for future participation in Fashion Week - so exciting :). I had a blast with the girls from the salon, and I was lucky enough the run the streets of Soho with Camille. I love my sis :).
My brilliant dentist husband is, of course, doing well in school. He passed his boards (with flying colors I might add :), and he will hopefully be whitening my teeth before long (that is why he started all of this, right?).
All and all, it has been a great start to the fall season. I am busy at work, I love my clients, and I am excited to see what God has in store for our little family this coming season!

What God Is Teaching Me About Beauty
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes, instead it should be that of the inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful." 1 Peter 3:1-5
Working in the beauty industry has encouraged my love of fashion and all things beauty oriented. I adore making women feel beautiful. I am reminded of why I chose this job when a client tears up at the sight of her own face in the mirror, feeling beautiful for the first time. Throughout this journey as a new hairstylist, or really just as a woman, I am sometimes baffled by the lengths that (some of) us women take to look beautiful. And whether we really admit to this, we all want to look or feel beautiful. Through my study of 1 Peter, God has reminded me of a very important verse for us women. It tells us that God finds great worth in the sight of our inner beauty - a gentle and quiet spirit. I have to admit that being gentle and quiet isn't something that comes naturally to me. Sometimes I can be more worried about my physical beauty than my inner beauty. Even if I am all dressed up, if I'm snippy to my husband or rude to a co-worker, than my outward beauty means nothing; and God is not impressed. Let's become beautiful, women. Not with our outward beauty, but with gentle and quiet spirits. This is truly beautiful.

Catching Up
March-
Hubby and I took a vacation to Punta Cana in the Dominican republic. The beaches were STUNNING, the food was good, and the weather was perfect. Thank you Jesus for the carribean! :) We really appreciated the time together to relax and enjoy each others company. Will didn't touch his work ONCE. For this I was thankful.
April-
My sister, Camille, came for an extended visit (take note that there are now three sisters in the Guthrie home). We are having so much fun being together and Will and I are always happy to open up our home to those we love. After all, isn't that what our home is for?
May-
Will is in the final countdown for school. He has been studying non-stop and I am proud to say that he is doing very well. I married such a brilliant man :).
Work has been going well for me and I am excited to announce my salon's hair show this Saturday (May 15th). "The ME" fashion show will include 14 models (two of which are my sisters), and we will be styling their hair for this event. Previously this month we had the models come in for a photo shoot. Here is a sneak peak of the hair I did on Michelle-

Online Bible Study
I am very excited to have stumbled upon this online woman's bible study through a friend's blog. I am joining a bit late, but all the past videos are available online for me to catch up. With a busy schedule I sometimes struggle to find quiet time with God. This will be a fresh and encouraging way to do just that! If you are interested, here is session one: http://www.titus2atthewell.com/god-who-are-you-what-can-you-do-for-me-session-1
Each session provides discussion questions for your blog.
Who is God to You?
This first session addresses the many ways in which we view God. Some see him as impersonal, others see him as simply a disciplinary figure, while others believe him to be sitting in heaven with a list of rules that must be obeyed. No matter how God might be viewed by man, this does not change who he is, and who he always has been. Who is God to me? He is the love that brings me joy daily, regardless of life's circumstances. He is my inspiration to live, and my source of fulfillment. He sustains my marriage, covering it with complete happiness. He blesses me daily with little to giant things-all the while granting me the satisfaction of this beautiful life. So to answer this question I must say that, to me, God is everything.

2010 has brought some change (good change!). My sister Michelle moved in with Will and me temporarily while she job hunts, and gets to know Baltimore. After spending her life in Vermont, Michelle wanted a change and knew how thrilling life would be with the Guthrie's ;). So, little Diggy has found himself a new playmate-boy does he love auntie Michelle! Oh, and we kinda like having her, too! :)
February has also brought tons, and tons of snow. Over the past two weeks the Baltimore and D.C. area were blasted with almost three feet of snow. Even as a Vermont gal, this was a lot of snow. I really loved it, though. Will and I had almost a week off from school and work. It was a much needed little vacation. This does, however inspire me to plan our March getaway a bit faster! Will and I have airline miles we need to use (and by need, I mean we have an excuse :). But you will hear more about that later.

On Saturday, January 17th, I auditioned for AMTC. Actors, Models and Talent for Christ is a christian organization that holds talent auditions across the country. Their goal is to give hollywood a "face lift" with godly talent and role models. If you are chosen after the audition, you recieve an invitation to a conference held in Palm Springs, Florida twice a year. At this conference there are representatives from top record labels such as Virgin Records, Sony, etc. as well as other talent scouts, modeling agencies and more. AMTC basically finds local talent and then helps introduce that talent to industry professionals that you might now otherwise meet.
With a number on my shirt, I stood in line for several hours waiting for my turn on stage. I sang for 60 seconds and also read a monologue. I recieved a call Saturday evening from a Tennessee rep. inviting me to the convention. To my excitement the judges gave me glowing reviews. I'm still not sure where this will lead, but maybe God has the same dream for me that I have for myself, to be a christian singer!!!!! I will update here when I know anything else. Please pray for me, everyone!!

Will, Diggy, and I went to Vermont for Christmas and had an absolute blast. It was so good to see our families and it was especially good to see my sister, Laura, whom I haden't seen in about a year. My sisters, sis in-law, mom and I enjoyed much girl bonding! It was also super cute to see Sydney "open" presents on her first Christmas. We miss everyone already!!!
